The Official 4Kids Thread

Figured we should take the conversation about 4Kids and put it here. So basically, talk about 4Kids shows and/or the company itself.

I HATE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pokemon is the only exception. I can't believe people make fun of us because they think we like 4Kids. That is insane.

4Kids murdered super-duper anime like One Piece and Sonic X (actually the entire Sonic franchise).

It was 4Krap themselves to inspired total freaks like OldPeople333/Sonicpower451 and DiabloKing15. Those guys belong in an asylum.

4Krap needs to give it up. They are very likely to be sold in the next 2 years. The Kids WB fans are going to kill them for replacing all their favorite shows. And the next anime they license will get people very angry as well.

I don't mind them, aside from the puffed-up language in YGO. I've ended up coining the term "Marik-Speak" for reiterations of the same subject in the same show.

they did not ruin the Sonic Comic.

They weren't in charge of that. Archie was always in charge of it.

Has anyone thought that 4Kids thought they would lose Pokemon long before they actually did? (maybe around the begining of Advanced generation)

I wasn't really a fan back then, so not me.

It's hard to say. But if you look at the back of a lot of DVD's like the movies starting as far back as I think Pokemon 4Ever, it mentioned not only 4Kids, but also Pokemon USA. This continued until 4Kids was stamped out of the picture completely. Honestly I thought that Pokemon USA was a new company but from what I read it's been around a while, not saying it's true or not. I personally didn't mind 4Kids even though all I watched was Pokemon, I would just like to know exactly what people have against them. I see all this bashing but why are they so terrible?

4Kids gets bashed around because of the shows they dub. Also because of the (heavily) editing of shows like One Piece and Shaman King.

They do a fine job with shows such as Pokémon and Dinosaur King...

everyone i know is okay or likes the edits (seemed few to me) 4Kids made.

Shaman King wasn't too horrible. I've read (most) of the manga, and they stayed pretty true to it with the dub, aside from editing out the gorier parts (like Manty's vivisection). Plus, the voices were decent (and I'm surprised they left in the implied incest/necrophilia with Faust, but considering how they more or less pretended there was NOTHING DIRTY AT ALL with Meowth's fantasies, compared to PUSA's treatment of the infamous Bug Fantasy, I probably shouldn't be).

(Oh, and you can tell I like Faust, can't you?)

I didn't take much issue to most of the Pokemon edits (with the obvious exception of Bashou's emasculation. Thank you, fansubbers.) It's a rice ball. Not the end of the world. GET OVER IT.

Did/Does Eric Stuart hate 4Kids? My friend told me he hates being James and is doing it for the money.

No, Eric Stuart had said many times that James is his favorite character that he ever played.

From the fourth movie commentary, I got the implication he LOVED being James.

Eric doesn't seem the kind of person to do things for the money. Especially looking back at his blog posts from when the switch was in its infancy.

That was just a stupid joke, probably an "easter egg" for the obsessive fans.

And offkilter, I'm not sure which blog it was... there was just talk of his "blog" and stuff. I don't know if it was his MySpace or what.

Ahhhh, ok. Some things are cleared up a little for me.

The backwards message was just a joke.
Think about it: if it WAS true, why would they air it for the fans to figure out what it means? And also like this: because he used James in that joke, doesn't that mean that, maybe, he had fun playing him (not just for that episode, but for all the times he did)?
