Pokémon: Rise of Darkrai already coming to DVD?

Yep. It is.

I was doing a little online browsing at Wal-Mart's website and I found this little gem...

Could it be? It looks like it to me! The 10th movie already being released on DVD at the end of May. I assume none of us will be buying it either right? It's going to kill me especially since I haven't seen it yet, period. I also made a promise to Lisa a while back that I wouldn't buy it either. Now that I'm one of the SOVA leaders, it wouldn't look right if I bought it now would it?

Actually, I am going to buy it because it's a great movie and the voice acting was GREATLY improved compared to the 9th movie. I don't see why there'd be a problem with getting it. I honestly think boycotting PUSA's products is pointless considering that SOVA is a very small group compared to the entire fandom. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that this movie was greatly delayed and has no extra features whatsoever, not to mention the ending theme, which was an ENGLISH song, was taken out, and the singer, Sarah Brightman, wanted her song to be in the American version of the movie too, which really shows how cheap and uncaring PUSA is.

And that's fine. It's not like Lisa, Nekusagi or me is going to ban you or anyone else for buying Pokémon videos with the new voices.

With this boycott, even though it's a small percentage, they'll be losing money if they don't sell these videos to the diehard fans who despise the VA change and refuse to buy anything with them in it. Because of this, I have refused to buy movie 9, I'm not going to buy any boxset from season 9 onwards until the VA's are back. And that goes for The Rise of Darkrai. But that's my choice.

The main problem with the boycott idea is that people think they can pick and choose what not to buy. The money goes to PUSA weather you buy the movie 10 DVD, or a season 1 boxset.
the only effective boycott is to buy nothing. If you are still buying DVDs of the earlier seasons, you might as well be buying movies 9, and 10.

It's an attractive price, to be honest.

Don't think I'll be picking it up. It's pretty far down on my mental list right now :D

I wont buy it because PUSA put no effort into the dvd. I also dont need a basic dvd because i taped it with a vcr.

I have it. I bought it at FYE at the Freehold Raceway Mall in Freehold, NJ. They had a lot of copies there. I thought they were empty boxes for pre-ordering but I asked an employee and he said it was the real movie. So I bought it.

Man, what is PUSA's problem with commentaries? I guess I am a junkie of sorts, but I freaking LOVE those things. *wanders off to listen to 4Ever's AMAZING commentary*

Really, do they care enough about the dub to talk about all the hard work they put into it? On the fourth movie commentary, everyone talked about how much they loved Pokemon, and their characters, and the rest of the cast. I think they realize that's hard to do with their commentary.


And god forbid we have a world-class vocalist singing a song at the end of a children's movie. It would ruin the attempts at conditioning children to accept mediocrity this culture seems to be making!

And that's just about it too. The Pokémon 4Ever commentary was the best commentary I ever heard in anything. Usually I don't bother with commentaries much but that one was definately worth listening to!

And even after they stopped doing commentary, we got goodies like Yuyama's message to the fans, and stuff. Or art galleries, like the fifth movie had.

Agreed. The corporate monsters at 4Kids exist, but those personally involved in the series all had a love for it, which was obvious

That's why I don't know why they lost the license for it to begin with.

Probably a mix of said corporate monsters and the corporate monsters at PUSA. The higher-ups at 4Kids did get a nice chunk of cash in selling off the license after all.

I just got it today at FYE. This is the first time that one of of the movies have had no special features at all, except for English and Spanish subtitles.

Wow, PUSA should keep this up if they really screw themselves over.

even pokemon episode DVDs have more bonus features. Seriously, they at least they have music.

Well, it is 100% true. Darkrai is out at Wal-Mart. It took a trip down there yesterday and I happened to see it and I looked it at it. Then I proceeded to put it back. However...

Something I did pick up that was right next to it. I bought the Pokémon Orange Islands DVD Boxset. That's right. Wal-Mart has released them instore as I haven't even seen it on their website yet. It's the complete season with 36 episodes and 3 discs so anyone interested in that I'd highly recommend going to Wal-Mart asap as I haven't seen it in any other stores yet. =P

I'm going to FYE in Sawgrass Mills the second my plane arrives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida tomorrow (sick great-uncle, I have to go down until Wednesday or later). It's the largest one I've ever seen, so they're bound to have it. My cousin won't mind driving me there, it's only 2 minutes from his house.

Oh, and I will have my laptop, and my cousin has Wi-Fi. You won't lose me.

EDIT: I just called Sawgrass Mills. When I called, "Next shipment of those two items (Darkrai and Orange Islands) is next Friday" is what they tell me. I'm not even sure if I'm going to be there next Friday. I guess I'll have to hit Nintendo World when I get back.

So just hit WM...and they had BOTH Orange Islands and Indigo Pt III

Thank goodness I got paid yesterday! Now I just have to live off ramen for the rest of the month :D
